Belgian label Okraina Records is some kind of a discovery for me this year (thanks Little Dog). Named after an old Russian movie, Okraina has only four releases in their back catalog yet but all of them are pure gold. All four records are released as a double 10″ and all sleeves are designed by Gwénola Carrère. They look gorgeous. My favorite record at the moment is Ed Askew’s Rose. He played two radio shows as a duo. First one comes with Joshua Burkett and the second one with Steve Gunn. An intimate and funny portrait of a forgotten (?) singer / songwriter. Listen to Rose below.

And don’t forget to check out the other releases, Ignatz & Harris Newman or the compilation La Ballade Du Beau Regard.
