I love bands with a concept. The weirder the better. American experimental electronic music duo Matmos is one of them. For their 2001 released album A Chance to Cut Is a Chance to Cure they just sampled sounds of medical procedures, including plastic surgeries, liposuctions, hearing tests and bonesaws or for The Rose Has Teeth in the Mouth of a Beast they dedicated every song to a person who has influenced the duo, which is reflected in the songs themselves. Awesome, seriously! Matmos keeps you not only listening but also thinking. Well, they are up to releasing a new record soon and I don’t have a clue about what it is this time. A just released EP on Thill Jockey and a short video asks for more questions. Something with pyramids? I don’t know, I guess we’ve to wait for the record.
